Byte Guard – Motion Graphic
In spite of widespread awareness of online threats, tens of millions are still affected by cyber crime every year in the United States alone. Young adults without formal training in information technology are unfamiliar with the concrete steps that they should take to keep themselves safe online due to a lack of resources available that explain online security in an accessible way.
The Problem
Through my research on common online practices as well as targeted research via surveys of college students, I discovered that the biggest online threat that most people face is phishing.
As the focus of my animation is avoiding phishing attempts, my visuals revolve around the interactions between bad actors and their targets. While throughout most of the animation the target is portrayed as very susceptible to attacks, by the end they develop their online defenses enough to ward off attacks by bad actors.
